In 2000, a local Sonoma winemaker approached Four Sisters Inns to discuss a piece of property he owned in town, just a block off the Sonoma Plaza. We agreed that the location seemed ideal for a small hotel, perfect for guests who would enjoy walking right out the door to the shops, restaurants and historic attractions such as the 1823 Mission San Francisco Solano.

Construction of the Inn at Sonoma took place in 2002, with Four Sisters Inns consulting on all phases of development. We worked closely with a design team to create a warm and hospitable environment, in sync with the casual Sonoma wine country lifestyle. From the moment it opened, Inn at Sonoma has been a favorite with visitors who appreciate special touches like the outdoor hot tub and fireplaces in every guest room.

In 2013, an adjacent cottage on the property was completely remodeled adding eight guestrooms to the Inn at Sonoma. Rooms in the Vintner's Cottage boast either one king or two queen beds, each with a fireplace, and four with jetted tubs.

We started with a question.

How do you chill wine to the perfect drinking temp, without the mess of an ice bucket? To solve it, we tested, obsessed and perfected our way to our very first product: The ?original Corkcicle Air in-bottle wine chiller.

Innovate. Elevate. Celebrate.

As we grow and evolve, our mission is still the same: Make every sip an experience. How can we tweak commonplace things to make them better? How can we add value to everyday moments? These challenges excite and push us to create cool stuff with meaning.

Making sustainable stylish.

Style and sustainability shouldn't be tradeoffs. In fact, we believe in creating products that enhance personal style while reducing personal impact on the planet. We launched our company over 20 years ago after receiving our very first write-up in Food & Wine magazine.

Wine Away was originally designed to be an all purpose cleaner and degreaser. However, at the same time we developed our cleaner and degreaser, everyone else did as well… so we scrapped the product and gave it out to friends and family to use. After a few months, people kept telling us it worked “pretty well” on red wine. They said it wasn’t perfect, but that we needed to explore it because there was nothing on the market at that time to remove red wine stains. So, we spent a few months in the lab testing different formulations and when we finally created one that we liked, we gave out the new product to our friends and family for feedback. The results were positive.

The next month we contacted the editor of Food & Wine magazine and he asked us to send him a bottle. The bottle sent had no label, we just wrote our name and phone number on the outside of the bottle with a black Sharpie and sent it off to him (and crossed our fingers).

A week later, he called back and said they had “tested it in their test kitchen and that it worked great on white carpet and linens and that they were going to write about it in their next issue.” He asked us to send a photo of the product, pricing, and contact information.

Two weeks later we came up with the name Wine Away and created the label. The label we have today is our original design, the only difference is the bottle.

Founders’ Story

PureWine Inc. is a privately held company founded in 2014 by a father and son team, Dr. David Meadows and his son Derek.  Both father and son suffered from wine headaches and experienced allergic reactions to red, white, rosé and sparkling wines.  But, like true scientists, they didn’t suffer in silence — they set out to understand the problem and to solve it.

Together, father and son spent two years in the laboratory looking for a solution to the side effects of wine. The ‘Eureka moment’ came one day in the lab when David and Derek found the precise means to selectively remove histamines and sulfites without otherwise changing the chemistry of wine.

“We could see that our filtration was working, but when we tried that big, bold Cab and it was every bit as delicious as it was in the tasting room in Napa, we knew we had it,” says David.

“That’s when we toasted each other – To Your Health! – and that’s our motto today at PureWine,” adds Derek. In 2016, the duo launched the first PureWine product, The Wand™, for a glass of wine, followed in mid-2018 by The Wave™ for a bottle of wine.

Our Mission

The mission of PureWine is to end the problem of wine sensitivities and to enable more people to enjoy the unique pleasures and health benefits of wine.

Wine has been a part of daily life for over 9,000 years. Consumed in moderation, wine provides many proven health benefits:

• Better cardio-vascular health

• Reduced metabolic disease

• Greater longevity

• Improved cognition

And nothing brings people together quite like wine. We support causes and organizations that promote the moderate and responsible consumption of wine … and health, happiness and well-being for all.
