Torres Shelter's Christmas Tree Auction & Holiday Festival
Torres Shelter's largest fundraiser of the year is next Saturday, Dec 7th at 6pm. Located at Chico Mason Family Center, 1110 W. East Ave. There will be a Christmas tree live auction and silent auction. Tickets are $35 and available at Christian & Johnson, Zucchini & Vine, Made in Chico, and the Torres Shelter. Proceeds benefit the Torres Shelter.

CSU Chico's Glorious Sounds of the Season
CSU Chico's Dept of Music & Theatre presents a Scholarship Fundraiser. Friday, Dec 6th & Saturday, Dec 7th at 7:30 pm. Sunday, Dec 8th at 2 pm at the Harlem Adams Theatre. Gold Nugget Museum
Santa Claus is coming to the Gold Nugget Museum on Sunday, Dec 15 at noon and will visit with children until 4pm. Free souvenir photos will be taken with Santa and the children.
Orland Historical Society Avenue of Lights
Orland's fifth annual Avenue of Lights event runs December 18th through December 22nd from 5pm -9pm at Glenn County Fairgrounds. The Avenue of Lights is an outdoor auto tour containing millions of lights and dozens of displays including Santas and nativity scenes along with holiday music.
13th Annual Community Creche Exhibit
The 13th Annual Community Creche Exhibit, featuring 1,000 nativity scenes and live holidy music takes place from 1 to 9 pm December 5th through the 7th, and from 4:30 to 7 pm December 8th. This free event is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 2430 Mariposa Avenue, Chico.
The Eight Reindeer Monologues
The Eight Reindeer Monologues, by Jeff Goode. Performed at The Blue Room Theatre. A dark, dark Christmas comedy. Scandal erupts at the North Pole when one of Santa's eight tiny reindeer accuses him of harassment. With each deer's confession, the truth behind the shocking allegations becomes clearer...and murkier. Come laugh your antlers off. December 12, 13, & 14 at 7:30 pm. Tickets $12 & $15.

New Chico Park Hours for Winter
October marks the beginning of winter hours in Bidwell Park and other Chico Parks. From October to March, most gates and restrooms in Bidwell Park will close at 7pm. The exception is the north side of One-Mile Recreation Area and the upper park gate, both of which close at 9pm. Also the city restrooms at City Plaza, Ringel Park, and the downtown Transit Center will close at 6pm.
Patrick Museum Art Education
On the first Saturday of every month, from 11:30-1:00pm, the Fine Arts Program puts on an Art Experience at the Patrick Ranch Museum. The August Art Experience was "Photography Education on How To Find Your Best Shot: Light, focus, and view". Plus How to Use your Photo To Create Beautiful Paintings, instructed by Karen Kolb & Amber Palmer (local artists).

Chico Certified Farmers Market (Saturday)
The Chico Certified Farmers' Market mission is a unique opportunity where farmers and vendors can sell directly to the consumer in organized farmers' markets in the Butte county area. Our first farmers' market began in Dowtown Chico in August of 1980. The Downtown Chico farmers' market moved many times before it found a more permanent location in Downtown Chico, which is now 2nd & Wall Street.
Academic Self Defense
An Academic Self Defense program is starting at Azad's Martial Arts Family Center. The program provides youngsters from Grade 1-12 with special after school academic tutoring every Monday-Thursday from 3-4:30pm. It's a FREE program that offers help in all subject areas including Basic Math and Calculus, Science, Reading, Writing, English, etc. Parents must call at least 24 hours ahead to pre-register their children for each session, to guarantee a spot for tutoring.
