Gold Nugget Saturday in Paradise

It was a fantastic day Saturday on the ridge in Paradise for the Gold Nugget Days Parade.  It was a great crowd, with lots of food, music, and something for everyone in the family.  Thanks to all who came out for the celebration, everyone who worked all of those long hours leading up to the event, and the volunteers who gave of their time on Saturday to help make it another successful parade!  If you couldn't make it up the hill on Saturday, we have put together a photo album with a sample of what you missed!  Just click on the Grand Marshall's photo below and enjoy!  Who knows, you might even see someone you know!

Remembering Prince

Today, as the world continues to mourn the loss of  Prince, there is much being said about the impact he had on the music industry and the lives of friends and fans alike.  This morning though, we thought we'd go down a different path and take a  brief look at a couple of his unique and iconic performances that were but a small part of a career that  was filled with mystery and, at the same time, not so mysterious moments that helped define a decade and a generation of music fans.

Time and again throughout his career Prince proved that he could take even the simpliest of thing and make them cool. In the case of this clip called "Starfish and Coffee" from his appearance on a 1997 broadcast of the Muppet Show, he showed us that he could take an already popular entertainment franchise like the Muppets to a whole new level cool.

Then there was his performance at Superbowl 41 in 2007.  This performance during a driving rainstorm was the perfect backdrop for his Iconic hit Purple Rain.  It was a performance that set the gold standard for Superbowl halftime shows that hasn't been met since.  For a brief look at that performance, click here, courtesy of  NFL FILMS.

Prince will be remembered many different ways by many different people. One thing will remain constant though ....the legacy of his music and the lasting impact it will have on us all.  If you have a  favorite televised  performance, concert you attended, or would just like share a thought or memory feel free to do that below in the comment section.
