In Chico, the store Anika Burke, 211 Main. St., is taking personal items such as toiletries, socks, snacks, diapers, baby shampoo. Owner Anika Kronmiller is a Weed resident for part of the year. She's also looking for zipping plastic food bags of all sizes to repackage goods, as requested by relief organizations in her town.
Cleanrite-Buildrite, 1200 W. East Ave., is also collecting personal items, adult and children's clothing, toys, household items.
Alternative Energy Systems is another drop-off point for donations and will be accepting items from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Friday at 13620 Highway 99, in north Chico.
In Paradise, a newly formed group called Passionate about Paradise is collecting goods at 6400 Skyway, across from H and R Block, from 5-7 p.m today, and noon to dark until a box trailer is filled.
A Boles Fire-specific fund has been set up for contributions. Information is available by calling 244-1219. And donations can be made on the website, www.shastarcf.org
Financial donations can also be made through the Red Cross of Northeastern California. Checks made out to the American Red Cross, with a Boles Fire memo note, can be mailed to 2125 E. Onstott Road, Yuba City, CA, 95991. Contributions can be made online at www.redcross.org/nec. A phone number for the Yuba City office is 673-1460, according to the website.
